Monika Starowicz

Born 1974 in Katowice, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice (2000). Currently, she works as associate professor in poster design studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. She deals with poster art, painting, drawing, illustration and collage. She collaborates with collectors and galleries of contemporary poster art; participates in numerous national and international exhibitions and poster art reviews. She has also had many individual exhibitions, where she usually presents her own cultural posters, drawings and illustrations. The most important motif of her works is a woman – a witch, a goddess, a lover – full of emotions and usually accompanied by the Moon. Animals often appear in her posters and drawings – fantastic, strange deer, sometimes mythical beings. The connection between the forces of nature and primal female energy is an important aspect of her  artist’s lifestyle, which she herself clearly signals in her work.
